Week of changes.
As you may have seen during this days, we have delayed our participants list. The reason for this have been some with the facilities that have made us make some changes in the programme.
Public Relations European School 1 Leiden will last now from November 23 - 28. This change for a shorter event is also focusing the content of the European School in a great way. Participants are going to enjoy this brand new six days.

How to reach Leiden
By Airplane
You can fly to Schiphol (Amsterdam) airport and catch a train from there, the trainride will take about 20 minutes and costs €5,30.
The other closest airport is Rotterdam Airport. From the central station it takes about 30 minutes to get to Leiden and it costs €6,60.
Another option is to fly to Eindhoven Airport, you can catch a train from there on. This trainride takes about 2 hours and costs €18,80 (Ryanair only hits Eindhoven so this actually is a really good option)
some websites you might find usefull:
www.ryanair.com
www.skyscanner.net
By Train
If you're not coming from too far away or you're flying to Germany or Belgium, you might consider catching a train.
International trains can be found on these websites
http://www.nshispeed.nl/en (dutch international railways)
www.bahn.de (german railways)
http://www.belrail.be/E/index.php (belgian railways)
and the national railways can be found here: http://www.ns.nl/cs/Satellite/travellers
By bus
http://www.eurolines.nl/?lang=ENG You can catch a bus to The Hague or Amsterdam and catch a train from there on to Leiden Central Station
Other important things to have in mind...
The participants will be sleeping in a gym so they need to bring a sleepingbag and something to sleep on.
In November chances are that it will rain alot so they also need to bring an umbrella.
It will also be cold so they need to bring warm clothes! (temperatures around 5-10 Cº)

Welcome to Leiden
All you want to know about Leiden
With its 118.000 inhabitants Leiden isn't a very big city but it's ancient city centre is really beautiful. There are many small canals and typical dutch houses. In the city centre you can find several old churches of which the st. Petes church might be the most import one. St. Pete. is the patron of Leiden and the keys to the gates of Heaven that he holds in his hands can also be found in the coat of the arms of Leiden.
As the story goes, the mayor of the city gave the the people of Leiden an option between never having to pay taxes anymore or getting a University. The citizens chose for a university and this university is now the oldest in all of the Netherlands.
The most important holiday in Leiden is celebrated on the 3rd of October when the end of the Spanish siege is celebrated. It's celebrated by an annual parade, a day of, a fair and eating the traditional food of herring, whitebread and hutspot (mashed potatoes, carrots and unions).
AEGEE-Leiden
AEGEE-Leiden has been one of the few founding locals that is still alive and we're proud of it! At the beginning AEGEE-Leiden was one of the bigger antenna's in the network with around 300 members, later on, around the year 2002 there were about 26 members left, so something had to change. Thanks to some great boards we had in the past years we are now back to 280 members and still growing. Most of our active members are active in commitees or so-called disputen (smaller groups within AEGEE-Leiden). Our committees are responsible for several parts of our antenna, such as the P.R., Summer University or local membersweekends to other antennas. There is also a weekly social drink at the center of Leiden that we will go to during the PRES.
This year is a special year since we and AEGEE-Europe are becoming 25, because of this we are very happy to organize the spring AGORA 2010!

This year, the Public Relations European School in Leiden will have the great chance to count with the visit of a member of the Comité Directeur of AEGEE Europe as a trainer for some days and that way show us some great information and tips in the Communications and Public Relations fields for organizations.
Anita is AEGEE-Europe Vice President & Network Director, responsible also for internal communication within the network. Although she has experience in PR both being AEGEE-Riga PR responsible 2006-2007 and doing some other PR stuff, her true love is journalism already for more than five years. Being on both sides of PR has given her a possibility evaluate communicaton between journalists and PR specialists from different aspects.
