WICKED WEDNESDAY

Nobody wanted to get up, so we played loud metal music. After Dutch breakfast we had some energizers and Inte told us something about non-verbal communication. Ramon made us dance on newspaper.

If you don’t know how to prepare powerpoint presentation, ask him. If you don’t know Ramon, a Japanese Guy can tell you more about 10-20-30 rule. :)
We were discovering PR-problems with Anita and trying to find solutions to them.

We had fierce discussion about cheating Abigale, helpful Sinbad and traditional Tom. Who is the most guilty???
Different ideas about culture were expressed with an iceberg, which was transformed into a tree.
We discovered our identitiy with designing T-shirts. It’s too bad we can not wear them, because they are not comfortable and paper is not washable. At least not yet. :)

PRES is GREAT

We were taught some vital presenation skills- how to sell tomato juıce to the Ku Klux Klan, or how to promote a porn channel to your favourite professor. A misunderstanding led to a discussion among the two alfa(fe)males in the group.

The evaluation took a whopping two hours. We’re kidding, but it took long enough to make Ramon sweat, while he was waiting outside. Concerning the food: Breakfast is OK, Dinner is warm and Lunch is… Dutch yet again.

And last but not least we had the European Drinking night.

Some girls, regularly chewing theır hair, felt really dirty when going to the party (ask them about it!).
The night certainly took Gizem’s memory away. Isaac was really disappointed when she turned all her attention to Simon (Belgian). Isaac we feel for you.
For some people the party seemed really boring, since they fell asleep- luckily they saved the snorring for later.
Ramon prepared a really good drinking game. Everyone who participated couldn’t find their way back to the gym on their own. Barbara was unlucky, since she was drinking only water. But she got really high with the Romanian dudes later. Jurriaan, however, got really wasted.

And Anka looked like she was having sweet dreams.

This day was a great success!

Fears are falling, PR is coming!

One of our biggest fears - sleeping in the gym - has fallen off the tree because we had sweet dreams in a really cozy atmosphere. After getting up, Hilde took us in Africa for about 10 minutes to perform a dance to the gods of PR to get inspired for what was going to happen next.
20 people came here from different European countries with different PR knowledge and background, so our first task was to bring everyone to the same level. In order to do this we discussed the core expressions of the field.
Then we were ready to talk about the PR strategy of projects and events. Ramon showed us that the most important thing is to know ourselves in order to set up a good strategy. We became more colorful by identifying our strengths and weaknesses. In the end, the room was full of adventurous oranges, gold builders, green planners and blue relaters. We learned that only by combining these we can create a perfect team.
Of course being in a foreign country can also mean having cultural shocks. One of these was the Dutch lunch. There was almost a public outcry for having what we consider to be breakfast for lunch. :)
The most creative part of the day was the role-play workshop. Anita made us be part of different situations, from which we learned how to represent our local in the outside world, but also how to use our contacts to fulfill our plans.
From the local approach of PR we moved to AEGEE’s European level. Anita presented the PR tools used by AEGEE Europe, which gave us a lot of ideas, that we can implement in our locals.
This time we had real Dutch food for dinner at an AEGEE-Leiden member’s place. The main dish was made of mashed potatoes, tomatoes, ham, salad, sausages. Then we had chocolate and vanilla vla. Mmm…yummy!
In the evening we went to ‘DeBranderij’ for AEGEE-Leiden social drink ane some of us ended up playing “I have never, ever…” :) and others went to “Hifi” to have a very fancy party.

Photos are coming soon! Stay tuned!

Hugs,
Barbara, Alexandra and Stefan.

PRES here!

Hello Europe!

Live from Leiden (Holland), the Public Relations European School is reporting! An interesting cocktail of cultures and personalities is now shaking up the town and having the time of their lives!
The 20 participants came from all over Europe: Germany, Turkey, Romania, Italy, Russia, Slovenia, Belgium, Macedonia, Hungary and of course Holland. Moreover, our lovely team of trainers is a cultural mix itself: Hilde from Holland, Ramon from Spain and Anita, Network Director of AEGEE -Europe.

Even though some of us were tired after a long journey, there was still a lot of interest in the city tour and lots of enthusiasm for the introduction games. Like a true AEGEE event the ice breaking games brought together 20 strangers from different cultures. We dare say beautiful friendships will emerge here and, who knows, some ... more? :) The sleeping bags might not keep one warm enough during the cold nights of Leiden :)

And what better way to start a typical Dutch week than with Chinese take-out food? The dinner was an assurance that the happy hour from Odessa won't get us dizzy... too fast :) Even though this precaution was taken, some people – who shall not be named :P– ended the night dancing on the tables! The local organizers sure know where to party in Leiden.
PRES is not just fun and games, so we can't wait for this week's workshops which start very early (8 am) for us, party animals :)

Leiden sends lots of love to all of you!

PRoudly yours,
Anca (AEGEE-Cluj-Napoca), Isaac (AEGEE-Utrecht) & Rares (AEGEE-Bucharest)

Public Relations European School is each time closer!

Week of changes.

Hilde

As you may have seen during this days, we have delayed our participants list. The reason for this have been some with the facilities that have made us make some changes in the programme.

Public Relations European School 1 Leiden will last now from November 23 - 28. This change for a shorter event is also focusing the content of the European School in a great way. Participants are going to enjoy this brand new six days.
